Strip ALL HTML from Snippet

Hoping a superuser can help answer this one.

I want/need to use snippets in some email templates, but I need these snippets to be completely plain text. No HTML at all.

Currently, when I edit the HTML in the snippet and strip all of the <p> tags from each sentence, the editor puts them all back in before I can save the snippet.

Is there any way to ensure the snippet is plain text ONLY?
