Tasks Being Created in SFDC from Smart Campaign Registrations

I have a smart campaign running for a webinar program. Everytime someone fills out a form, a task is being created for one of our execs in SFDC.  I don't have a flow step set for creating tasks, anywhere. Any thoughts on why this is happening?  That exec definitely does not want all these tasks created.

Are these tasks created by Marketo? Does this campaign do anything SFDC related at all, like add registrants to SFDC campaign, update SFDC field value?

The changes your webinar campaign makes is triggering something on either Marketo or SFDC side to create these tasks.

If the tasks are created by Marekto, you should be able to see what campaign is creating them in the lead activity log.

You can also check what user is creating the tasks on the SFDC side to be sure, all the tasks created by Marketo will normally be created by Marketo sync user:

If tasks are being created on the SFDC side, have your SFDC admin check workflow rules, might be that your form is updating something on SFDC side and this change activates one of your workflow rules.

Hi Iryna,

Unfortunately, the fact that the task is being created by the Marketo Sync User does not tell you whether it is created in Marketo or In SFDC. If the task is created in SFDC with a workflow or a trigger when the lead is updated or created from Marketo, the task creatioon user will still be Marketo.

The only way to exclude Marketo as a task source is to scrutinize the activity log of one of the regarded leads.

Hi,

After reading the responses I looked into one of the campaign member's lead activity log. I'm attaching first the flow steps (1-3) and also a screenshot of one of the activity details of the campaign member's activity log. There is something peculiar in there. And I haven't gotten any notifications about the error. I am wondering if this FIELD_CUSTOM_VALIDATION_EXCEPTION is causing the task creation and if so, I honestly do not understand what that is referring to.

Hi Jenny,

Look at one the leads in this situation and really make sure that there is no "create task" in the activity log. The "create task" flow step can be deeply hidden

Once you are sure of this, the other possibility is that the task is created in SFDC, with an SFDC workflow for instance.
