"Three Strikes, You're Invalid!" Campaign

I'm building a series of three campaigns that will help identify reoccurring hard bounce leads, then mark them invalid to clean up our database. My current campaigns are as follow, but campaigns #2 and #3 continue to pull in leads who have not run through the previous campaigns. Any advice on how to append?

Campaign #1

Smart list

  • Email bounced, category 1, in past 7 days
  • Not opened email in past 7 days
  • Member of smart list: lead NOT in "Delivered email in past 7 days"
  • Member of smart list: lead NOT in "Soft bounce in past 7 days"

Flow

Change data value: marketing suspended = true

Wait 7 days

Change data value: marketing suspended = false

Campaign #2

Smart list

  • Email bounced, category 1, in past 7 days
  • Not opened email in past 7 days
  • Member of smart list: lead NOT in "Delivered email in past 7 days"
  • Member of smart list: lead NOT in "Soft bounce in past 7 days"
  • Member of smart campaign: Campaign #1

Flow

Change data value: marketing suspended = true

Wait 7 days

Change data value: marketing suspended = false

Campaign #3

Smart list

  • Email bounced, category 1, in past 7 days
  • Not opened email in past 7 days
  • Member of smart list: lead NOT in "Delivered email in past 7 days"

Hi Kim,

Leads become members of SC #1 from the first day they enter the 1st flow. As the other criteria are the same, any lead qualifying for SC1 will also qualify for SC#2 and SC#3 1 second later.

I would rather add 2 lists and td the following:

Campaign #1

Smart list

  • Email bounced, category 1, in past 7 days
  • Not opened email in past 7 days
  • Member of smart list: lead NOT in "Delivered email in past 7 days"
  • Member of smart list: lead NOT in "Soft bounce in past 7 days"

Flow

  • Change data value: marketing suspended = true
  • Wait 7 days
  • Change data value: marketing suspended = false
  • Add to list List#1

Campaign #2

Smart list

  • Email bounced, category 1, in past 7 days
  • Not opened email in past 7 days
  • Member of smart list: lead NOT in "Delivered email in past 7 days"
  • Member of smart list: lead NOT in "Soft bounce in past 7 days"
  • Member of list: List #1

Generally, I'd suggest using Email Invalid=T whenever a hard bounce occurs, which would make this simpler. I'm not sure your setup will capture the right people in the way you intend.

I'd also stagger the batch runs so that it does 3, 2, 1 in that order, about 1-2 hours between them.
