Hi All,

I have one landing page and that page has one video, 4 download attachment and 1 form. And this landing page will be used in different source like. Ad, website, going out by Marketo email.

My question is how to track the lead who visited the page, downloaded the attachment without submitting the form.

Thanks

Hi Harish,

Marketo will track them and log their activities, but it will not provide you with this info until the leads fill out a form, either in the same session or in the future, from the same browser. But if they do not convert, you will never have this data. By definition, these people are anonymous, so even if you would know, the usage would be limited. You still can use the web page activity report, with a "activity source = anonymous visitors" setting, but it will not give you the clicks.

Marketo will also track the activities and attached to known leads in the DB and having a cookie attached to them or if they visit the page coming from an email sent from Marketo.

At the end of the day, Marketo cannot replace a web analytics tool such a google analytics... Both are complimentary and should be used together.

All that said, you can still track the number of times an asset was clicked on by adding Google Event Tracking to the link: Google Analytics Universal Event Tracking Set Up and Configuration

You won't be able to tell "who", but you'll see "how many".

I was just about to suggest the same thing.

Google Analytics has Event Tracking, which is easy to implement and create a structured program around Event Categories, Event Actions, and Event Labels, all 3 parameters are passed upon the onclick event via Javascript.

It can be implemented in a variety of ways, but I suggest looking into this.

That user will be tracked automatically using the tracking code.  There is an anonymous IP filter you can use to report on these leads.

Hi Jamie,

The anonymous tracking will only show you the page visits but will not give you any info on the clicks unless the lead eventually converts into a known one.

Hi, is there a way to get the anonymous IP in the report download?

HI Janneke,

Always better create a new question than re-opening a quite old one You would be more likely to get an answer.

You can download the web page activity report, as any report, but there is not much you can do and no, you will not be able to get the IP's for the anonymous leads.

Again, your web analytics tool will probably do a better job on this.
