An ability to deactivate Queue Topics

There are legacy queue topics that should no longer be used but deleting them results in a loss of historical data from already-submitted requests.

The ability to deactivate queue topics will allow to toggle them off so that they no longer appear in the lists when submitting new requests to the same queue but will still preserve the queue topic data on the old requests.

Very interesting! I'll give that a try and report back.

I actually think I figured out a way to hide them.  It worked 5 out of 6 times (not sure why it did not work on one of them).

We are only using Requests.  This is important.

  1. Go in to Queue Details and check both Issues and Requests.  Make sure to Save.
  2. Go to the queue topics and switch the queues you do NOT want visible to Issues.

(this used to be Request, but I do not want it visible so I switched it to Issue)

  3. Go back to Queue Details and uncheck Issues.  only Requests is selected.  Make sure to Save.

  4. Now, only those queues which are checked as Requests, will show.  All those checked as Issue will no longer show.

If you’re still interested, I’d really like to revive this idea because it’s something that is sorely needed. Please consider liking the related post so we can get some more attention on it: Ability to Deactivate Queue Topic / Retire Queue Topic

Looking this enhancement since many years. Will save a lot of time for System / Group admin.

This would be useful for us because we have queues that we only want visible three months of the year.  We have been deleting these queues each year and then making a new one the next year.  This is causing problems in reporting.  This also causes problems for fusion because each Queue Topic has it's own ID.  So when you delete it one year and start a new one the next year, it's a totally new ID.  Would be great to deactivate, and then use the same queue the following year.  You also can not move Queue Topics from one Request Queue to another (I tried this).
Anyways, deleting it causes problems, leaving it visible causes problems.  Deactivating would solve everything.

(I also upvoted the similar request from 2020 Ability to hide / deactivate Queue Topics and Topic Groups)

Thank you for the submission! We think this is a good enhancement to the Workfront platform overall and this product area in particular!

Workfront currently prioritizes large-scale, foundational enhancements such as the new Reporting experience and changes to the core data model, so this item does not fit in our near-term roadmap. As such, I am marking this as Declined now, but we'll keep this in our backlog for the improvements for this area so that we can revisit the decision in the future.

Any info from anyone, if this is added as an idea to implement in Workfront.

Is there any update on this? We have recently run into this issue, where we would like to eliminate some existing queue topics that we have but do not want to lose all of the historical data around the old requests that came through it.
