I want to be able to edit my comments

Everyone can make a mistake... as well as users who post updates. If I misspelled something, or want to change something in my comment I should be able to do so.

I'm glad that you are following up on the idea and holding us accountable. After review, it has been determined the team is currently unable to build this feature due to the complexity and resources available. Right now, we're fully occupied with the recent Adobe acquisition and other initiatives, so our development resources are limited for the rest of 2021/early 2022. Since this is officially on our radar, we are always happy to revisit this in the future; but at this point, we don't know when that will be. When we do revisit this, it will be more as described below as an "undo" option that is available for a few seconds after a comment is added since there are organizations that use this area for tracking/compliance.

Thank you for your idea to edit comments on the Update Stream. At Workfront, we understand this limitation as we use the system ourselves for our projects too.

In the past, we have considered an "undo" function that could be performed in seconds after the initial comment to help with majority of the typos. This approach would take care of most typos and eliminate concerns for an audit trail of deleted comments.

We will revisit this "undo" feature and possibility of editing comments with our engineering and design teams to determine effort. After review we will determine if we can prioritize this change and will solicit additional customer feedback at that time.

Thank you for taking the time to present this idea. Customer feedback is a gift and we always appreciate it at Workfront, An Adobe Company.

Checking in on the status of this enhancement. We also wondered if there could be a possibility of having access to edit comments that may have been placed for our own internal reference but nobody was tagged. These are notes we add for our own use as we work on a task or the overall project. It would be nice if we could potentially choose whether it is a true "Update" or just a comment about the status.

Is the reason this is taking so long is because you want to have an audit trail of how status updates were edited?

I think the majority of my "wish I could edit my update" moments are within the first 10 seconds as I read back over what I just said, so I think it's a viable solution, personally. :)

Anything to help with when you make a mistake is fine by me. It would be nice to have edit by creator that lasts though. Thanks!

PM Update: We are working on some performance improvements to Update Stream currently and I'm afraid editing will not be introduced until much later, likely Q4. I would like to ask for feedback about our current plan for the first iteration of 'editing' comments. In reality, this is planned to be more of an "undo" similar to when you send an email in Gmail. Once you submit your update, you will have a short window (likely about 10 seconds) in which to Undo the message. Once you select Undo you can take what time you need to edit content or recipients of your draft message and resubmit. We believe this will catch the majority of the "oops, there's a typo" or "I forgot to add Jim" scenarios.

It is not as robust of a solution that would require a history or audit trail, but it would allow us to plan this feature on our 2020 roadmap. What are your thoughts? Would this "Undo" feature be useful to your organizations?

Hello! Although this idea is taking longer than expected to be implemented, we are still planning on making this much needed improvement to Update Stream. We expect to be able to introduce this within the first half of 2020. We are sorry for the delay and appreciate your patience!

Agreed Matt. So if an update is edited to include (for example) one extra person, I would expect that update to be sent to the newly added person (and not again to all the other people). Should be easy to work that out as the update field and the notify field are separate.

^ edit: I like Andrew's comment above too. Perhaps email notifications on updates have a slight lag, to enable that "woops" editing of the update straight after.

Thank you for this idea. We have added the feature to edit comments to the roadmap to release within the next 12 months. This functionality will also note the edit with a date and time for those with regulated environments.

Thank you,
