Workfront

As I've found throughout my career in managing systems like Workfront, there is knowledge you acquire ahead of time via training and documentation, knowledge that you acquire just-in-time by troubleshooting challenges, and knowledge you acquire and then look back and REALLY wish that someone had taught you that 6 months ago. I will honestly admit that my example was a long-held belief that conditionally formatting a report column could only reference the data within that specific column. I'm /still/ second guessing myself on if/when that changed, or did it always do that and I just never noticed?    Even the most experienced admin occasionally runs into menu options, features or helpful tricks that they wish they'd know earlier in their admin career. So in that vein, what are some of the things you wish you could go back in time and teach previous-you to save some head-shaped dents in your office walls? We use Workfront timesheets and have holiday calendars defined via schedules.Is there a way to highlight or visually indicate holidays in the timesheet (e.g., greyed-out background, icon, tooltip, etc.)? If not, please let me know if there is any other way.Thanks in advance!

Hi Everyone, I've been diving into external lookup fields quite heavily in the last few days. Hoping to bridge the gap in situations that used to require Fusion to implement in a maintainable way. I've unfortunately hit some hard limitations on the feature and I wanted to document them to see if anyone has solved for these items.Yeah so far in external lookups using $$HOST (Data in your Workfront instance) I've ran into the following blockers:1. Muti-select inputs on a lookup preceding another lookup (dependent field) will output a string result (like other multi-selects) instead of an array to which individual selections on subsequent lookups or validators might not evaluate as "True" because of the format. (e.g. trying to match "California" to "California" works, but selecting California and Connecticut outputs "California,Connecticut" which fails validation.)2. Lookup fields cannot be the basis for display logic. This limits their usefulness as a "filter" field in a custom form

The Calculated Date Field is working well but seems to round in the wrong direction when it comes to dates with midnight. A date entered of '28 Aug 2025 00:00' results in a generated date of '2025/08/27'. The dates seem to round down when a time of 00:00 is added. Is there a reason the date would round in either direction based on the code I have added? 

I created an approval process to be used on Issues.  When I assign it to someone, I get an email that the approver approved/denied the request but the person actually assigned to the request doesn't get anything.  Am I missing a notification setting or something else?  How can I get the information that it was approved/denied to the person assigned to the issue?  I also tried just adding a column to the Issues view but can't seem to find the right one that would filter in the response (blank if no response or approved/denied if there is a response).  Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

I would like to suggest a few items regarding AI Assistant for Workfront: 1) can you provide videos and sample prompts to accompany the AI Assistant for Workfront documentation? The documentation is too generic and 2) will you have a best practices session on AI Assistant for Workfront?  Especially around prompts 

I created a New Template and my template durations are not rolling up correctly. I have task constraint set to 'As Soon as Possible'. See attached. I can't figure out why the durations do not roll up to total duration. I have tried everything. 

Hi, is there a way for somone with the free reviewer license to view reports, do they have to have a planner license to view reports? 

Hello, I have a calculated field on a request form that is giving me a value of N/A and I am not sure why.How this field works it is pulls a number from another calculated field and uses 'ADDWEEKDAYS' to add that number to today's date. When I am filling out the request form, my calculated field that populates a number (which auto-refreshes) while I am choosing different options in the request form. However my date field does not auto-refresh and instead gives me N/A as a result.It is worth mentioning that after submitting the request, the date field populates fine. I am hoping to get a live refresh of that date field, on the request form, as users are filling the info in/before submission. Is it because I am calculating this field off of another calculated field? Is what I am attempting possible? Thank you,Eric

Is there a way to access the fields in the current record within a listmethod... I am on a task record, I would like to show any Time Off date ranges that touch the current Task. So far I am only able to use the $$TODAY reference. I would like to replace the $$TODAY reference with the {task}.{actualStartDate} but that does not seem to work. Is this possible? Hi everyone -- I've been having some trouble with My Projects on my own "New Home" page, but others on my team are not having the same issue. I've searched for a solution to no avail, any help is appreciated! I've created a Layout Template for everyone on my small team, and we are all using the same "Home" Layout Template, however, my own "My Projects" box will load for a second or two, but then it immediately switches to this error message you see in the screenshot. Any ideas?? I've cleared my cache, tried removing and changing some of the custom columns/view I sat up, but nothing is working for me! I've checked with other users on my team, and theirs is working just fine!

Hi Everyone, I am trying to export the users’ allocations along with the hours assigned to them for a project that is currently in the planning stage. This export is required for further review by a team outside of the workfront.However, when I use the Resource Planner, it shows all users instead of only the users assigned to my project.Is there a way to export only the allocations specific to my project?Thank you for your support!

I need to auto generate timesheet in a weekly basis. How do I do it?

In a few Braindates yesterday I was asked how to report on the reporting elements (view, filter, grouping) within a report. This can be particularly useful when trying to find a specific report as well as when cleaning up reports and easily identifying duplicates. Here is the code for each column.
