Prevent Time Logging on Personal Tasks

Either we need to a) allow to block users from logging time to personal tasks OR b) allow admins to turn off the ability for users to create personal tasks.

We log time but have many custom fields attached because we chargeback time.  So we can't have users log time to personal tasks that don't map anywhere.

If you'd like something even more specific than the search string @heather_kulbacki suggested, I invite you to consider excluding (or including) personal projects using the built in "Personal" property, as shown here under an Advanced Search (and available in any filter):

@heather_kulbacki great idea on the project description, that helped!

The project that my personal task was created in didn't have 'personal' in the name, only in the project description.

I specifically searched for projects where the Project Description contains 'My personal project' - figuring even if other project descriptions contained those words, it would be unlikely they'd be in that order, matching the projects auto-created for personal tasks.

Hi @heather_kulbacki I had actually already tried an hour report with a filter of project name contains 'personal' but that didn't bring back valid results (included legit projects with the word 'personal') so wasn't sure if that works or if we just happen to have no logged time against those personal tasks. Really with we could nix the to-dos widget entirely in the new Home layout templates/prevent users from adding it in.

@madalyn_destafney I have not, but I just had a quick play in sandbox and created a new personal task for myself. It put that task in a project where description = My personal project

Of course, there's no way to prevent anyone from changing the description on the project that their personal tasks are created in. But pulling hours from projects with that description might give you a directionally accurate amount of time billed to those tasks.

@heather_kulbacki have you figured out a way to report on time logged on the personal tasks/to-dos in New Home? This just came up for us on the team today and we want to prevent this too, but wondering how much time we even have on those but can't figure out how to report on it.

Personal tasks no longer display on timesheets by default per the September 11th Product update. They are only displayed on the timesheets when they are pinned or if they have hours logged.
