Adobe Experience Manager Assets

Hello All,I am noticing that when I upload a pdf asset under DAM, I am able to create versions using "Create..." button on bottom right of the screen. After creating versions however, if I try to restore previous versions (I click on the previous version and click "Restore"), a new version is created every time I restore to a version. Is this an intended behavior? An author if wants to compare versions by restoring to them, it may lead to creation of lot of versions. Is there a fix or alternative to this?

Hello,we are working on upgrading from 6.0 to 6.3 version of AEM. We have customized the "DAM Upload Asset" workflow that gets called when uploading an asset in DAM Admin. It works fine in 6.0, however we are seeing one issue in 6.3.I see two new properties got added in 6.3dam:assetStatedam:relativePathIn vanilla 6.3 instance after I upload an asset the property "dam:assetState" has value of "processed"However once we deploy our custom code and then upload the asset the value remains "processing". This is blocking any further action on that asset with error something like "workflow is in progress".I am not sure if we need to update this property in our custom step, any pointers are appreciated!Thanks- Atul

A user is using AEM 6.1 Touch UI. He uploaded a PDF in the Assets with filename "sample.pdf" is not able to see the file from the list of uploaded assets. But instead a new name "A_Sample_File" has appeared on the list.The user thought there was an issue because he's not able to see the "sample.pdf" name on the asset list. However, the user was not aware that there's a metadata title on the pdf "A_Sample_File". And this metadata title was used as the label on the list after uploading the sample.pdf file.How can I prevent the "DAM Update Asset" workflow to NOT use the metadata title to be displayed on the asset list?I know that if a pdf has no metadata title or if it's empty, the DAM Update Asset workflow will fallback to use the filename as the title/label on the asset list. This is what the user wanted because what they want to see is what they get. And most of the users are non techy and has no tool to remove the metadata title manually.And also, if the PDF is password-protected and

Hi I am new to AEM 6.2 and currently working for bringing a pdf onto the page.It's taking me 5-6 page refresh to get the pdf on the page.I am facing similar issue while trying it with images as well.Can anyone suggest on this issue. Thanks in advance!

I've added a new metadata field to the JPEG schema by following the steps at: Metadata SchemasThe text field appears as expected when I modify a JPEG asset and the field value is updating properly in the JCR; However, I have noticed that the asset's modified date is not updated when modifying the value of the custom metadata. The modified date is updated when modifying out of the box fields like "title".Custom metadata changes used to update the modified date in 6.0; Is this a bug with 6.2 or is this intentional?Thanks for your helpUPDATE:I thought it might be worth pointing out that I also added a custom metadata field using the Classic UI approach (/libs/dam/content/asseteditors/image) and it also doesn't update the modified date.UPDATE 2:The custom property that I have added is stored as a child node of metadata (i.e. /content/dam/<path-to-asset>/jcr:content/metadata/customnode).

Is there a way to add a second option to the Expired Asset Search Rail filter?  Specifically, instead of only seeing the expired assets you only see the non-expired assets  (hiding expired assets from your search results).  Thanks

From the above documentation, it seems as if only the asset creator is notified by email previous to the asset expiring. Is there a way to setup the notification to be sent to an admin's email previous to expiration? Thanks

Hi All, We are using Dynamic Media(AEM 6.1) for Video/Image. In this Adobe Doc link its mentioned the ReportSuiteID is automatically generated for video reports when we configure Dynamic Media Cloud Service. It didn't create the reportSuiteID for us so we visit Tools ->  Assets -> Reports -> Video Reports, we are not seeing the reports. Does anyone know how to regenerate the reporting information like Tracking Server , Tracking Namespace and reportSuiteID for Dynamic Media reports? The reports are working fine in our Pre-production environments , we can see the reportSuiteID generated and can see the reports also. The problem is happening only in production. Any pointers? DAM retention policy can vary depending on the organization but can anyone help me out with a generic or minimum things to keep in mind regarding retention policy of assets.Can anyone help me out with the best practices of retention in AEM DAM (i.e. DAM retention policy) Eg:when to delete the assets? (like verisons of assets and old assest etc)On what basis we can delete like delete if the asset is older than 6 months or delete it if its size is greater than 10mb etc.When to archive and when to purge? 

Hi All,We have a requirement that our business users/authors should be able to move assets in DAM from one location to other, but should not be able to delete any assets in DAM. What would be the best approach to achieve this? As we know, delete permissions are needed to move assets. So, if we assign the delete permissions to the users, they would be able to both move and delete assets. Is there anyway to allow them to only move assets but not delete? Please let me know if there any alternatives/workarounds.Appreciate your help!Thanks,Ramya

In my 6.1 environment(s), there is a workflow called DAM Upload Assets.  But in local instances of 6.2 and 6.3 it is not there, did the DAM Update Asset replace this workflow?  Or is it missing from the build(s).

Hi,     I've one functionality to delete an asset from DAM Path from Publish server (publish 1).  The issue I'm facing is through web portal I'm trying to delete one file which will delete the file from DAM path for say publish 1. But when i try to connect to another server say publish 2 or 3 or 4 I'm able to see the same file in other server .Now I've  doubt that will the content be deleted in author side ( i see the file is not getting deleted ) and after that the same node will be deleted from other publish servers(publish 2, publish 3 and publish 4) ? Means Replication (forward and reverse) will work for delete operation ?Is there any possible way how we can take forward and how it can be handled?Thanks,Nandhini

I have several docx and pptx documents in the DAM.  Each have sub-assets viewable in DAM.  When published to brand portal, only the first page of the document is viewable.  Is there a way to view the sub-assets prior to downloading the full document? 

Hi Everyone,I need to set up permission on the content fragment in such a way that only the MASTER can access and edit it, SLAVE can only access and SUB SLAVE should not even view it.     1)To be more clear, we have parent(company), child(dealers) and sub child(shops) relationship in our requirement. Some of the content should be accessible only to master and not child or sub child.  Some of the content are accessible to parent and child but not sub child. The sub child should not even allowed to view the content either in parent or child.      2)The content should be shared across pages provided the permission matches with otherpage     3)Certain parts of content should be pulled as a summary into other page.Please explain. I am trying to extend the assets finder logic in the touch ui edit mode (AEM 6.3 in this case). For example: add another dropdown under 'Select Tag(s)'. Hi,I need to use Adobe Experience Manager to manage a CMS migration of video assets from one system to another. In addition to the migration, I will need to ensure that timestamps are correct, Closed Captioning aligns, and notes correctly correlate to the content.  I have experience using Premiere Pro and would like to know what the learning curve for AEM might be for me to get this project done in an efficient manner.  Thanks.Zel

Hi,I would have a general question of the architecture ob my AEM application.I have to do a simple task -> show an external .csv file at a page of an AEM application - there should be no author actions or something else.Currently I am not clear how to develop it - should I create a Component where I will load the csv over a javascript file or is it better to make an OSGi Bundle which loads the data and I access the bundle over REST- Service or ...I would be glad for any hint in this direction.Thanks a lot!

Hi,   I need to display assets especially PDF, PPT or word documents from content/dam  within page. Let's say page would be divided into 2 columns. 1st column I need to render asset and other column I need to display some additional information.   Is there anyway I can render assets from DAM into page?Thanks in advance !!!Rajesh Karka

Hi All,During my recent AEM 6.2 SP1 project, there was a requirements to provide a list of images on the page.I have tried the solution Experiencing Adobe Experience Manager - Day CQ: AEM 62 - Touch UI Composite Image Multifield but I am facing some problems with the Touch UI authoring dialog, rendering sometimes more than one image drop area.There are more problems that I can describe here, if someone is interested to help :-) Also, I would like to know how to switch the component to store the images as JSON array vs sub-nodes.
