INTRODUCTION:I have created a form using Livecycle Designer 8.2 and Acrobat 9.4.Its intended users are trusted people in the company so distribution is performed manually and security is not an issue.Upon being opened with Reader 9.4.1, the form's docReady event handler calls a trusted function (located in a .js file in the JavaScripts folder) which calls importXFAData() to populate a text field with a user name retrieved from an xml file.The user then enters a date into a text field.The user clicks a Save button on the form which performs the following:Set the presence of the Save button to invisible.Set the access of the date field to readOnly.Uses a trusted function to call saveAs() to save a copy of the form with no (pencil tool) signature. This will be printed off and signed by hand.Set the presence of the Save button to visible again.The user then uses the pencil tool to sign the form.They then click the Save button on the form which does the same thing as before, but the copy of

I have a dynamic table inside the PDF form. I want to loop through the table rows and read the cell contents. I successfully get the rows count in the table. But can't read the values from the cells. I created an xdp file in Livecycle Designer, and it works perfect if I preview it in Livecycle Designer. When I opened it in Acrobat Reader 9, I got this error message “Unable to locate the form, because the XFA data lacks a reference to the PDF document. If the data came back as a result of a submit from a PDF form, then the URL is probably missing “#FDF” at the end.”I did some research online. It seems that I can only open a PDF file in Acrobat Reader 9, but is it a way that allows me to open an xdp file in Acrobat Reader 9? The filled data is from a separate xml file. Any help will be appreciated.

Can someone help me please?! I can't seem to find anyone that can. I have CS3 and everytime I open forms this happens. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it 4 different times-still continues... I get this ERROR: Adobe LiveCycle Designer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Hi, I have a form with a dual purpose. In one instance it is a notification of expected changes to amounts, and in the other it is the findings of the audit. They appear the same with slight wording changes - all the wording is in the data and that allows us the leverage to have one template.However, there is a table on this form and in the one instance I want to show a certain column and in the other I dont want the column. So, can I make this adjustment at runtime when the data is merged?Thanks

I have a date/time field which has display pattern set as MM/DD/YYYY...During run time, if user clicks on a check box...the display should change to DD/MMM/YYYY...How can i do that?

HI,I am using a dropdown to allow the form user to say whether or not he wants to see a subform.When I test this, here's the sequence I experience:1. Initial form opens and the subform is hidden and excluded from the layout. This is good...as intended. I am seeing subforms 1 and 3.2. I choose to display the hidden form. It appears. Also good and as intended. I am seeing subforms 1, 2, and 3.3. I choose to hide the subform. It goes away, but it leaves behind a blank page...a big gap...before the next subform. I am seeing subform 1...then a blank page...then subform 3.I am using "hidden" in my code. I do not understand why the form does not reflow properly.Many thanks,Joe

Hi everyone,I have two text fields at the top of my form for the user to type in their first and last names. I originally set the two fields to be global so that when I placed two identically named fields in the footer the values would automatically be repeated in that area across the document.  This has worked but I've since decided though that instead of having two separate read only fields in the footer, I'd like to run some javascript so that the combined first and last names will be entered into one field only.I put the following code on the text field in the footer:var first = student-info.firstname.rawvalue;var last = student-info.lastname.rawvalue;Concat(first, Space(1), last);This hasn't work though.My knowledge of javascript is quite limited so I wondered if someone could tell me where I've gone wrong in the code?Appreciate any assistance.

Hi there,I need help, desperately.I made a form using Desinger ES2, and set its target version to 9.1 or later.  When it is rendered in the browser/standalone with Reader Version 9.0, it would pop out "Invalid enumerated value: validationState", twice... I do a version check in the form's formReady event, it hides the entire form if version is not >= 9.1, and also pops up a message box telling the user that they do not have the latest Reader and should update or the form would not display/function properly.  BUT our client is still not happy with the sollution and complains about seeing this popup when they load it in 9.0.I need help getting rid of this popup in version 9.0 please.Regards,Nelson Wei

Hello All,I have a check box on a form.  Upon tabbing to the check box the custom text is read by the screen reader.  The custom text provides an explanation of the field as well as the current state (unchecked).  Is there a way to have the screen reader announce the state of the check box upon changing from unchecked to checked? If this required scripting or the use of alternate text, an example or explanation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Jelf12

Hi, can someone please advise me on how to avoid script failure alerts (like the one below), which are generated because certain calculations are being performed before any positive value has yet been set in a numeric field?Here is an example of the calculation:--- form1.SF_CalculationTable.acview[0]::calculate - (FormCalc, client) -- (ac[0] / tr[0]) * 100Error example:Script failed (language is formcalc; context is xfa[0].form[0].form1[0].SF_CalculationTable[0].acview[0])script=(ac[0] / tr[0]) * 100Error: arithmetic over/underflow.update: it appears these erros are "divide by zero" errors. So my questions are, (1) would I put any javascript (to override the zeros) on the "validate" event or the "calculate" event, and on which of the three fields in question, acview[0] (the result), tr[0] (the denominator) or ac[0] (the numerator). and...(2) What might that javascript look like?--Harry

Using xdp + xml data to generate pdf.I have a floating field that is bind to data. Data is a paragraph with multiple \n to indicate new line. When form is preview in designer it shows \n char instead of moving next content in paragraph to new line.It used to work in old version of Designer but not any more in ES2 (9)I need to know what data need to be sent so that content would display on new line.ThanksYogLC

we have recently acquired Reader Extensions with the main aim of allowing submission of forms by citizens online without the form actually asking the user for an email client on the PC. Developer uploaded the form and applied rights on the form through the reader extensions, but on returning back the form from the server, the "submit" button on the form stillasks for the email client on the local PC. The 'Submit email' button automatically generates the email client popup. is there any way to go round this, i.e, the public can fill in a form online from anywhere without the form actually asking for an email client on the PC ? Pls help. we were told that Reader Extensions was the solution for this problem.

Is it possible to resize the width of a column in a table?I currently have a form with a table in it that spans the entire width of the page.  What I want to do is, when a button is clicked, have one of the columns shrink in width so that there is room for a new column to be added to the table.  I have tried the following code to a button in the form:form1.quoteTable.Table.Header.Cell3.w = 2.1993;but it currently has no effect when I click it.The table starts with  6 columns, has a header and a footer.  The footer has two columns (five of the columns are merged in the footer).Any assistance is appreciated.

A lot of people on this form are accidentally selecting items that shouldn't be selected and need to be able to change the drop down menu back to blank if they have made a mistake and selected a wrong drop down item in the wrong area.Please help,Thanks!

Coworkers are using Designer ES 8.2 and they keep on telling me that the Insert Table is disabled.  They have uninstalled and reinstalled.  They tell me it works twice and then it becomes disabled from then on.  Anyone else experience this?

Hello,Can I create a pdf that doesn't trigger Acrobat's JavaScript is currently disabled and this document uses it for some features.  Enabling JavaScript can lead to potential security issues.I even get this error when I create a blank pdf. I'm not using any JavaScript in the form and the nature of the message might tend to be a bit scary to some people since it mentions enabling JS can lead to potential security issues.  I basically want to disable the messaging of a feature I'm not even using.Anyone know if this is possible and if so, how I go about it?Thank you.

I have found several good examples on how to modify the color of a field based on a value but am not having luck implementing.  My form is an evaluation with 3 sections of test scores, the total of all 3 could have a max value of 100.  Sections 1 & 2 are auto calculated, and section 3 is a value the user will input based on their review of all comments, scores, etc.  The final score has a rating, Outstanding 90-100, Satisfactory 70 - 89, and Unsatisfactory <=70.   Right now I'm not so much concerned about the color numbers, but I'm not able to get the colors to change at all.  Because this field is calculated based on sections 1-3, I put the code on its change event.  Once the user enters the final manual score in section 3, the value automatically changes.  I've also tried the exit event of the section 3 manual score, and obviously do not have either the code or where to place it right.  Below is the code I'm using, and would appreciate any help.  If I can learn how to do the 9

Hi,I am searching for the best way to create global variables so that the script can work on all adobe reader versions . I tried gobal.varibaleName at the initialize event of the form, but it is only working in the earlier versions of designer. I tried using script variables, but it always initializes the variable to string value. I have wrote some functions on the script object, and every time any functions fails, a  global variable count gets incremented. At the potsave event of the form if the count value is greater then 0 , a simple warning message is displayed . Now how to declare and initialize and increment this count variable so that the script can work on all the versions of adobe reader ?
