Currently if a email recipient forwards that email to a peer, their lead information goes with it.  I'd like to see this fixed - lead information should not go along with the email.

My organization needs this functionality as well - our current Marketing Automation vender offers this and we have seen very good results.

It's been nearly a year and a half since the original post stating that this was being planned (See Glen's post on 11/23/10). In July it was slated "to be delivered by the end of the year".

Cheryl, at a minimum, I need the ability for someone to forward the email and have the cookie stripped out so that when the person who recieves the forwarded email reads it or clicks a link, Marketo doesn't track that person as the original recipient. I've got sales reps that are forwarding eblasts all the time and it's really skewing our tracking results as well as generating a lot of erroneous data in Salesforce.
Please give us this piece of functionality so that we can stop fouling up our data (first do no harm). Then move on to the rest of the forwarding features: social sharing, tracking the forwarding, etc.

if you would like to talk to the Marketo Product Management and Design team regarding forward to a friend and social sharing in emails, please send an email to cheryl@marketo.com.

I would like to schedule a session where we can discuss your requirements.

We are working on a "referral form" that adds a lead, but ignores the cookie.

We struggle constantly with records being overwritten when people forward emails to colleagues.
I think most users don't have any idea how often this is happening.
I've used systems on the past - MarketFirst for example - where we had a trigger built into each form/LP "If the information below is not yours, please click here to clear the form" - which effectively blew out the stored cookie data and allowed the user to register as a new record.  I think this type of functionality woudl go a long way to curbing data getting overwritten in these circumstances...

I'm with Todd on this one! It's be really great to have a "Refer a Colleague" functionality that allows the recipient to enter a colleague's name and email address.

This could then trigger an email to the colleague referencing the referrer and containing details about whatever they are being referred to.

Is there a possible timeline on this? I have a campaign that hinges on sharing!!

Thanks so much, Olivia.

The Forward to a Friend was a part of of our old maketing system EmailNow and the lead info did not  go with it, so not sure Glen, what you mean by this.....

"Unfortunately, the way all of the world's email works is that once an email is sent, the sender no longer has no control over the content.

Has the forward to a friend functionality been implemented yet?
