Option to Text Only Emails

That's not true Bill.  We just have to prioritize.  We have way more things we want to do than is possible.  This is one of them and we take it seriously.

We have been waiting to upgrade the mail engine we use, which is rolling out now.  After that settles, we plan on shortening the URL links (they are seriously ugly) and allowing for text-only and also advanced scripting.  The email engine is such a major component that we need to be very careful implementing it and rolling it out.

There are things like a new form editor, nurture module and marketing calendar that all compete for limited resources.  However, the product team monitors all of these ideas very closely and it helps guide the roadmap.

@Doug, I am sorry to hear that.  You know you can send a mail with a very simplistic HTML that looks exactly like text and will have nearly identical delivery rates.  We have tested it in depth.  If you need help setting that up, let me know.

I don't know why a text-only email option is such a big deal for Marketo - this is a major hole.
"Maybe someday" is not an acceptable answer IMO.
What ever happended to listening to the customer - perhaps Marketo has gotten too big and doesn't care

At some point (looks  like 2 years from the start date of this thread) you gotta smile and say "it probably ain't gonna get done".

We've decided to move to a system which does this amongst other things.

Our use-case is slightly different: we have custom fields which contain line breaks that get removed entirely by HTML. It makes for some ugly, almost undiscernable internal alert emails. Text-only emails would fix this problem.

Any updates, Marketo?

I have to go back to my old system (Vertical Response) in order to send a text only email - very disappointed that Marketo does not allow this - and I hope the status,  Maybe One Day, will change to Real Soon!

Does anyone from Marketo have an update on this? This seems like it should have been part of the original design.

@Dan S - you are not alone, we are new to Marketo as well and I feel as though I spend way too much time voting for stuff that should be here already.

We need text-only emails specifically for our Japanese division where text-only emails are the norm. "Subscribing."
