Option to Text Only Emails

We would like to have the option to send text-only emails as a blast, due to issues with deliverability with HTML, as well as to make an email look more authentically like a sales email. I'm aware that this would effect our ability to see opens in reporting, but it would still be good to have this option.

I specifically need this for email alerts that are logged into a ticketing system. Tracking open rates, et al are not required for this particular implementation.

Is there any update on this? When we signed up for Marketo I was told I could send text only emails - but at this stage we can only send HTML with the option of a Text only version. Could someone please advise?

Thanks

@Dan S  --  if you use a landing page that is specific only to that email then you should be able to divide the count of  visitors to that page against the size of the list delivered to determine click through rate.  Won't be measured nicely on the email performance report, but should be doable.  Maybe if true text emails are implemented, Marketo could also have a place to input the landing page URLs specific to that email and then do the click thru calcualtions for us??

And assuming the email recepients were tagged/cookied before you sent the email, then you should also be able to score/segment on the click throughs regardless of the fact that the URL does not have tracking code on it.

I love this idea - we definately have clients on our mailing list who would appreciate text-only emails.   Sign me up!

Also keep in mind that the link within the email is not trackable - it's just the actual URL with no tracking code.  So you will not be able to measure email clicks nor will you be able to know who the user is unless you have them complete some type of form on the landing page.  But I agree, this capability of a true text email only is sorely needed (especially when certain companies'/organizations' have super strict email filters - like governement agencies and contractors).
