Support for mobile-enabled landing pages

We really need Marketo to provide better functionality with regards to mobile-enabled landing pages. A series of mobile-sized landing page wireframe templates would be a good starting point.

So many of our prospective customers are accessing our sites via smart phones, and with Facebook's forthcoming mobile ad platform soon to go mainstream, 'mobile-sized landing pages' seems to be a big missing piece in the Marketo jigsaw.

What are Marketo's plans in this area?

I came across Knak last week at the Summit, have already given the responsive email templates a try and looking forward to the landing page release.

As it's clear from the popularity of this thread, email and LP responsiveness is a big problem for a lot of us. Knak is still an early product meaning there aren't many template options, but it does deliver on the promise of making it extremely easy for non-technical marketers to develop beatifully designed responsive templates.

Currently, there are 3 template options available. Not sure how quickly the product will develop but I do encourage everyone to give it a try. It doesn't take longer than 3 minutes to create your own responsive email.

What does 'template syntax' mean?

We now offer support for "mobile friendly" landing pages and will be rolling out a brand new landing page editor and template syntax with the May 2015 release to support fully responsive landing pages.

We use a very similar service to Litmus - Email on Acid.  But neither of these services test for when a user has their Windows scaling set to anything other than 100% - which many do, due to the high-resolution displays on today's laptops (which make the text so small, that many upscale to 125% or 150%).  Can you send me an example email (with multiple columns of content) so that I can test this in Outlook under all three scaling environments?  Unfortunately, your free trial only includes a single column template, so there's no way for me to test your service.

^ hey Dan. Yes, we have tested them all in Outlook, and they all work perfectly. We use Litmus, which tests on the following clients:

We know that Marketo removes conditional commenting that is required for Outlook, so we have other workarounds to make sure our templates render properly. I'd encourage you to try one out, you can try your first one free at www.knak.io

Pierce, have you tested these templates in Outlook - specifically when users have adjusted their windows scaling settings?  We, too, have developed responsive templates - but since Marketo is stripping out the code that fixes the issue when a user has their windows scaling set to anything above 100%, they do not work properly.  I tested these same templates in Campaign Monitor, and they worked beautifully.  See the idea I posted here (where Marketo has indicated they are working on a fix for stripping out this code - just unsure if this fix will resolve this issue): https://community.marketo.com/MarketoIdeaDetail?id=08750000000KIxJAAW

Hi Runjini,

We already have a solution for responsive landing pages in Marketo, for both tokenized and WYSIWYG. However, at this point in time we can only do them the 'old way' which is a custom job with our designers + developers.

However, we are working hard to build that same functionality into Knak, and we plan to release our responsive design Marketo landing page templates by the end of May.

I'd still encourage you to try out building the email using our tool (for now), as it will be a very similar experience for landing pages.

Pierce, do you know when the landing page templates will be available?  That's one of Marketo's weakest points.  Would be great to have support in this area.

I wanted to introduce everyone in this idea to Knak, a new product that we launched yesterday at the Marketo Summit.

Like all of you have pointed out, a major issue that all of our clients have is building responsive templates. We have been building custom responsive templates for our clients for the past 2 years. We've built over 100 templates for various clients like Trend Micro, Amdocs and others.

However, we wanted to put the control in the Marketers hand. Why should you have to spend thousands on every template, and wait for weeks while you go back and forth between designers and developers?

That's why we developed Knak.

Knak makes creating responsive Marketo email and landing pages, simple. Like most marketers, I do not know how to code, and I don't plan on learning. However, with Knak, I can quickly and easily create a responsive email or landing page template that is customized for my brand, with my colors, logos and social links, with no coding required.

These templates can then be put into Marketo, where they are fully editable in the Marketo editor. We have tested all our templates extensively in Litmus and Email on Acid, so you can be sure they will look perfect regardless of the device or email client.

We received great response from the Marketo community from pretty much every Marketer we showed this to over the last 3 days, and have almost 100 users using it to build their templates already.

I would encourage all of you to try it out today, for free, at www.knak.io - and let me know what you think!
