Tracking Opens on Mobile Devices

I understand that when a mobile device opens an email, we add to the open count, but we want to know the breakdown of how many opens are on Mobile Devices and what kind.  It would really help us design our emails knowing what percentage of our customers are reading our emails on iPhones, Blackberries, etc. vs. using Outlook on a laptop or desktop.  Also what % open the emails in a browser.

Hi,

Here is an article with more details on this use case:  https://community.marketo.com/MarketoResource?id=kA650000000GxMuCAK

Any update on getting this reporting. It would be valuable information via a report.

You'd want to do {{lead.email address}}

Since Marketo currently isn't on Litmus' dropdown list for creating the Merge Tag, what is the default Merge tag for email address for adding the tracking HTML into a Marketo email?

We use mostly templates, so we are looking into Litmus.  Once we add their code to all our templates, it won't be manual.

No, not opens, but clicks certainly if the click arrives at a landing page your GA account is attached to.. Allowing you to see  iPhones, Blackberries, etc. vs. using desktop.

For the record if I have an option between having to always produce a Mobile version of each page, vs an intelligent responsive landing page design that automatically looks great on a mobile or tablet or oversized giant screen. I prefer just a single site.

How would you detect opens with GA?

If Marketo could detect if the user's opens and clicks are on a mobile device, it would also allow us to redirect to mobile versions of landing pages when a link is clicked in the email.  There are several merged Ideas for mobile support at https://community.marketo.com/MarketoIdeaDetail?id=08750000000I3CaAAK and perhaps this should be merged into those.

Can you tell me why you wouldn't be using google analytics to capture this kind of data? This is all native functionality in analytics. I get the "I want everything in one place" concept, but in reality if you want this now, open your analytics account.

I agree on tracking Mobile clicks also.
