Author: @brian_hawkins_miaprova Amplitude is a Digital Optimization System that we have been asked about quite a bit lately. It turns out, MiaProva has some friends there from our Omniture and Adobe days, and so we got a much closer look at the solution and some of the use cases that organizations are using it for. They offer a free trial that allows you to send 10,000,000 hits per month, and so we decided to kick the tires and see if we could create an integration for those organizations that use Amplitude and Adobe Target. Amplitude Data Consumption We are by no means experts and have minimal experience with Amplitude, but from what we figured out so far, there are many different ways to collect data via SDK Libraries. Given that most organizations using Adobe Target leverages Javascript, we decided to create our Adobe Target custom integration based on their Javascript SDK. Users and Events Greatly simplifying things, with Amplitude, you send in a Vi
Author: Brian Hawkins Optimization Management is so much more than managing the intake and output of tests. A true Optimization Management Platform enables the organization to monitor tests or groups of tests and answers the big questions about their testing program as a whole and their investments in resources and technologies. MiaProva automatically stitches the organizational meta-data related to Activities to data from Adobe Target and Adobe Analytics. This approach allows organizations to use this data to analyze and manage their tests and what offline variables are impacting the program – similar to how organizations use eVars and list variables in Adobe Analytics. One of the many ways organizations use this is to understand how Adobe Target Premium is adding value to their Optimization Programs. MiaProva automatically classifies Activities that are specific to Adobe Target Premium as a dimension for Program Analysis. Doing so exposes a potential problem that needs addressin
Author: Brian Hawkins If your organization leverages Adobe Target for their optimization and personalization efforts and you have not joined your internal Visitor ID to Adobe Target’s visitor ID, consider making that a top priority. This capability has existed for quite some time but is now getting a renewed focus mainly due to ITP, browsers like Chrome are changing how cookies are managed, and Customer Data Platforms (CDPs). Joining your internal Visitor ID to Adobe Target’s ID takes just a few minutes to complete, costs you absolutely nothing, immediately creates cross-device test coordination, and opens the door wide open to use ANY (except PII, of course:) of the data that you have mapped to that ID. We recommended this blog post or this article by Adobe to see how to do this. This effort is, by far, the most valuable and highly strategic component of Adobe Target. Doing this converts your optimization program from a 2nd Party one t
Authors: Katie Lockett We joined Adobe and Vodafone on Adobe’s Digital Bites Webinar: Unlocking Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Adobe Target. Here we give you an intro to the AI features of Adobe Target, and some examples of where they can be really useful… Auto-Allocate Say you want to test something over a fixed, short period – like an offer which will only be live for a couple of weeks – so you don’t want to waste the whole period testing and miss out on maximising exposure of the top performers during this limited time? Auto-Allocate can help you out here. When you run an Auto-Allocate activity, it doesn’t just split traffic equally between your different experiences throughout the test. It actually learns as it goes and continually assesses the performance of the experiences against each other, so that it can direct more traffic to the top performers. This is called the multi-armed bandit approach – the way it works is by reserving just enough traf
Business Use Case: Customers want relevant data when they are purchasing or ordering something online on the different type of devices such as PCs Tablets and Mobile. For example, men and women have different interests when they come to an online store and they would feel irritating when they see irrelevant content. One major reason for this is identical authoring of the website and personalized content. This replication causes slipups and extra work, as authors must log into at least two systems to maintain site content. Adobe Target delivers personalized content based on a combination of machine learning and rule-based approaches that incorporate behavioral, contextual, and offline variables. Now Adobe offers the integration of Adobe Experience Manager with Adobe Target, which has simplified authoring personalized content. Apart from the above below is the list of more use case which can be solved by using this integration: Easily set up and run the tests to determine the best off

Guys, I'd like to know how to download the content of Content Fragments fields (linked with Commerce Products), filtered in the Assets > AEM Files session, as a CSV file? I was wondering if something like this could be done:1. Filter the products in the Assets session2. Save returned assets to a Smart Collection3. Use an Event Listener that will be triggered when this collection has been created4. Trigger a Workflow that will take the data from the products of this collection and export the CSV.5. Delete a smart collection Is that possible?
Hello,We've got a requirement to upgrade from AEM 6.4 to AEM as a Cloud Service. Though the environment upgrade is fine, the CIF connector and commerce code does not work as is within the upgraded environment. Please suggest if AEM commerce code can be tweaked as per new project structure to work with AEM cloud Service and if 'Repository Modernizer' can be used for same. OR it would be better to re-write all the customizations (mainly frontend code) based on latest archetype. The venia sample code have two profiles for cloud and classic. Could anyone suggest what's the technical difference between these two profiles and if the same codebase can be built for both cloud & classic then possibly can we also adjust our commerce code from classic to cloud compatible?Venia Reference Store: https://github.com/adobe/aem-cif-guides-veniaRepository Modernizer: https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/experience-manager-cloud-service/moving/refactoring-tools/repo-modernizer.html?lang=en#us
Author: Indar Kumar Digital advertisement has become more prevalent and efficient, it has placed the buying power back into the hands of buyers and customers, making it an absolute necessity for marketers to get more creative. Customers now have started connecting with companies through various digital platforms like social media pages, mobile applications, etc., which increases the need for personalized experiences and customer segregation according to their behavior. A customer’s journey today needs to be enhanced on a personalized level, this can be useful in ways like providing ease of customer journey, improving customer purchase patterns, and many more. A new question arises as to how should we personalize the experiences of customers and analyze the behavior of customers, to convert them into a profitable source for the company. This is where Adobe Target comes to the rescue. What is Adobe Target? Adobe Target is the Adobe Experience C
Author: Jose Luis Santos Dear Marketeers, please do experiment. With the right tooling (e.g. Adobe Target), process (e.g. SCRUM) and planning tool (e.g. JIRA), you can start your endeavour in the experimentation world. Experimentation is an inherent part of data driven marketing. Most of the DXP platforms have content targeting functionality. But many marketers face the frustration that once they target their content, they do not achieve the expected engagement. Surely, they can re-target their content again and see if the second time they are luckier. They might learn from the experience, but next time, they might fail again because the lessons learned were not the right ones. I am a big fan of the website called Spurious correlations. We can see quite funny correlations there such as US spending on science, space and technology and the suicides by hanging, strangulation and suffocation. Those analyses confirm the danger of data misuse as well as the well-known rule t
Author: Alex Bishop This short article will provide a brief introduction to Adobe’s new On Device Decisioning capabilities. There is some very useful documentation available here that explains when to use On-device vs existing Edge decisioning, so my main focus will be providing some answers to questions that have come up quite regularly since the announcement, as well as a quick run through of the implementation basics. . . . #1 What you should know AvailabilityThe good news for the server-side fanatics amongst us is that On Device Decisioning is available in the latest Java & Node.js SDKs. The bad news for everyone else is that it’s not currently available in the Web or Mobile SDKs, however, it is on the roadmap for both. Server-side SDK basicsThere is a JSON artifact that contains all offers/activities data, which will be cached on your server; the Target SDK is then able to interpret the rules contained within that artifact and make decisions around which exp
Author: Alex Bishop aka @ab2487 The last article reviewed the (recently deprecated) VEC extension, with a view to getting your optimisation and personalisation activities up and running very quickly with. As with any optimisation programme, starting with simple tests that attack low hanging fruit is a great way to quickly prove the value of your work. Due to the minimal implementation effort involved, the visual editor was a good option to deliver those results fast but there were some fairly clear technical limitations. Similarly, as you work through the ideas in your test backlog, you will inevitably start focusing on hypotheses that call for more complex changes, which adjust the layout of components or even involve a complete re-design of a particular app view. This is where Target’s form composer comes into play, and this article will guide you through some ideas to help you get started. At risk of stating the obvious, the form composer isn’t only for more complex test

Yet again, Adobe should NEVER be sending anything to our end users! Twice this week, our end users have received pop-ups inside the system that should have never been sent to them. As System Admins, we make the decisions on what our users can see and interact with as part of our company requirements and the needs of our platform. Adobe sending surveys or messages about system changes to our end users is unwelcome and frustrating, as they do not align to how we communicate with our teams. Yesterday was a pop-up for a usage survey and today a pop-up for the depreciation of the Scheduler. This is yet another example of Adobe not listening to the community, as this is not the first time these types of threads have been shared. @Jonathan Chen, please help us to escalate this to leadership, because clearly there is a communication gap since this keeps happening.
Author: Gonzalo Vázquez TELUS brought a team of technically savvy people together to unlock new personalization capabilities and scale the practice across an organization in an automated fashion. Resulting in hundreds of hours saved in running a/b tests, increasing user experience and performance. Historically, TELUS personalization team had done an amazing job running A/B tests with the out of the box Adobe Target solution. However, our performance was suffering and customer experience was being impacted which called for a deeper dive into understanding the issue. With TELUS experiencing an increased emphasis on performance, the Analytics & Insights team was also going through a transformative phase. The tools we were using weren’t necessarily optimized for speed. Throughout the year, we implemented brand new tools such as Adobe Launch and Adobe Target Server Side with performance improvement as our main goal. The following post follows the story of our personalization practice
Author: Gonzalo Vázquez At Telus Digital we turn to machine learning models to help us recommend products, predict user’s behaviour and identify opportunities to personalize the experience for our users. Like most companies, we are investing heavily in machine learning and artificial intelligence to help us drive business goals. As we approach maturity in our data science practice we need a way to validate the performance of our models against each other and one way to achieve this is running an A/B test. The Opportunity We have been extremely successful with personalization and A/B testing, mainly due to our ability to integrate with Adobe Target server-side. Since the development of our Personalization API, our personalization and A/B testing practice has skyrocketed. We can deliver fully personalized content to our customers in less than 200ms. Historically, we have only used the Adobe Target to test content, since the Personalization API is integrated with Contentful (our CMS
Author: Varun Mitra Using AEM Experience Fragments with Adobe Target Use the new Experience Fragments feature to reuse a complete set of content for targeted experiences across channels. Experience Fragments, introduced with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) 6.3, provide an excellent feature set to author content in a channel-neutral way. An experience fragment is a set of content that, when grouped, forms an experience that should make sense on its own. Experience Fragments can be utilized across several channels and tools including your website, Facebook, Pinterest, Adobe Campaign, and Adobe Target. Experience Fragment integration with Adobe Target is particularly interesting as it allows you to leverage AEM Content and use it for creating offers in Adobe Target. These offers can then be used to insert or replace content within different activities. In this blog post we will go over the steps to export AEM Experience Fragments to Adobe Target. Author: David Son Google will begin to impose new cookie policies by default for users beginning with Chrome 80, which is slated to be released in early 2020. This blog explains all you need to know about the new SameSite cookie policies, how Adobe Target supports them, and how you can use Target to comply with Google Chrome’s new SameSite Cookie Policies. Google recently announced that starting with Chrome 80, of which will be released some time in early 2020, web developers will need to explicitly specify which cookies can work across websites. This is the first of many announcements that Google plans to make this year to improve privacy and security on the web. Given the fact that Facebook has been on the hot seat with regard to privacy and security, other major players like Apple, and now Google, have been quick to capitalize on the opportunity to create new identities as privacy and security champions. Apple led the pack by first announcing changes to its cookies’ polic
