Archetype update 28: SPA editor by Niek Raaijmakers Abstract At Adobe, we just released some updates to the AEM archetype. This includes some important updates for the react / angular frontend-module: Experience Fragment support provided OOTB (demo provided) Code splitting / lazy loading demo provided Navigation Component with routing provided in Header XF Server Side Rendering bootstrap provided Express + IO runtime for React Express for Angular These were topics that caused our customers that were implementing the solution to spend a lot of time on setting up. And most of them required this. Personally I got bombarded with questions on how to tackle this. Then the customers would implement these solutions on their private repositories. Now with these changes, our customers won't need to ask these questions; they will be armed with a working solution from the start without any effort. That's why I am really excited that this release is shipped successfully! You can start out with

Building Flexibility and Streamlined Internal Process with Hybrid Headless in Adobe Experience Manager by bounteous Abstract Organizations that create a lot of content to be used across sites or different applications can use a hybrid headless approach with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) to add flexibility without sacrificing content authoring capabilities. If you've done anything with a Content Management System in the past few years, you've likely heard the term "Headless." Headless is used to describe the concept of storing the content within one system and consuming that content for display within another system. The "body" is stored in the CMS while the display or "head" is managed in a different system, leaving the CMS as a "Headless CMS." Going headless can offer several advantages over a traditional CMS setup. A primary advantage is the flexibility afforded when content can be consumed across various channels and disparate display systems. For example, content may be consume
Mocking HTTP Clients in AEM Projects by perficient Abstract The first thing I learned as an AEM developer was mvn clean install -P autoInstallBundle. The second thing was how to debug a remote Java process. The first allowed me to deploy updates I made to the bundle. The second allowed me to step through and debug the code. This was the normal cadence. Since then, the AEM Maven Archetype has evolved to include JUnit 5 with wcm.io AEM Mocks. That sits on top of the Sling Mock APIs. With JUnit and the AEM Mocks, I have been able to switch from a build/deploy/debug cadence to a test-driven one. This includes resources, servlets, pages, tags, context-aware configurations, models, and OSGi components. You name it. You can hit about 90% of the use cases you might encounter during AEM OSGi bundle development. This blog is not about 90%. I’m sure you can find a lot of examples out there. This is about that 10%, in particular with HTTP clients. Right out of the box, AEM comes with the Apache

Sling Framework Part – 2 by Techinnovia Abstract Sling Post Servlet, Resource Resolver, Service Users Welcome to the second part of the Sling Framework. After completing this part, you should be able to Describe the purpose of Sling Post Servlet and How it works. Work with Sling Resource Resolver. Understand the concept of service users. Understand context-aware configurations. Sling POST Servlet Sling POST Servlet is one of the key features of Sling. It handles all POST operations to Sling instance by default. This servlet provides possibility to create, modify, copy-move, delete to invoke resources. It can be extended with additional POST operations and PostProcessor. The Servlet can be called with a standard form submission as you can see on this eg. The action property is a node path in the repository, this node will be modified during Sling Servlet POST execution. The name property in parameter contains, a node property which will be modified, and value property – defines a
Update Link References inside Experience fragment on Rollout by Bimmi Soi Abstract As we all know that when we create a live copy of experience fragment or rollout any experience fragments the site's link reference inside it does not get updated as it gets updated in a page. This feature is not available OOTB. In order to achieve that we can create a custom rollout config and can achieve our use case. Steps : Add Synchronization Actions to the Rollout Configuration Go to /apps/msm , create folder named rolloutconfig Read Full Blog Update Link References inside Experience fragment on Rollout Q&A Please use this thread to ask the related questions.
Regarding AEM and SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) Culture by opsinventor Abstract What is Site Reliability Engineering? SRE is a term (and an associated job role) for the engineers whose job it is to enable the business they’re working for by making a desired service run smoothly and reliably. This also may be what operations folks like myself thought they’ve been doing all along (mom, can I be called an SRE too?) but there are a few key differences that define the SRE approach (mostly, in this case, shamelessly lifted from The Site Reliability Engineering Workbook: Operations is a Software Problem: The basic tenet of SRE is that doing operations well is treating it like a software problem. SRE should use software engineering approaches to solve problems in operations. Manage by Service Level Objectives (SLOs): SRE does not attempt to give everything 100% availability. Instead, the product team and the SRE team select an appropriate availability target for the service and its user
How to update JDK version of Cloud Manager within your program as part of the build by aemtutorial Abstract What are the available JDK versions with cloud manager? Java versions installed are Oracle JDK 8u202 and 11.0.2. Some times, when we deploy our code, people complaint java version is not matching (for e.g. we are using a JDK 11 specific API and this Java class is giving error in cloud manager) We will see how to set the relevant java version now. How to update the Java version of project build environment in AEM As Cloud Manager By default, projects are built using Java 8. Customers who want to use Java 11 in their projects can do this using the Apache Maven Toolchains Plugin. In the pom.xml file, add a entry that looks like this: org.apache.maven.plugins maven-toolchains-plugin 1.1 toolchain 11 oracle A few FAQs about AEM As Cloud Service build environment are given below What is the OS used for AEM as CLoud service? AEM Cloud Service - Content Fragment RTE Plugin for Dynamic Variables by Sreekanth Choudry Nalabotu Abstract Goal Adobe Experience Manager 2021.6.5586.20210628T210726Z-210600 (June 28, 2021) Create a Content Fragment RTE Plugin (RichTextEditor) for Dynamic Variables. Variable is resolved with a value, when the CF is added on a page, fetched from Page Properties. As an example consider Credit Cards and Interest Rates. Interest Rate content is added in AEM as a Content Fragment and the actual interest rate is replaced with value when the CF is added on a specific Card page... 1) Add the plugin /apps/eaem-cs-cf-rte-dyn-var/cfm-dyn-var-plugin/clientlib with categories=[dam.cfm.authoring.contenteditor.v2, eaem-cfm.rte.plugin] and dependencies=eaem.lodash. Add the plugin logic JS file /apps/eaem-cs-cf-rte-dyn-var/cfm-dyn-var-plugin/clientlib/dyn-var-plugin.js with following code... (function ($, $document) { var EAEM_PLUGIN_ID = "eaem-dyn-var", EAEM_TEXT_DYN_VAR_FEATURE = "eaemDynVar", E
Adobe I/O-Powered AEMaaCS Assets Export Implemented in Real-Time or Batch Mode by Kelvin Xu Abstract AEMaaCS Assets offers a cloud-native digital assets management solution, which is scalable, reliable, and hassle-free. It’s never been a better time for enterprises to adopt such a solution as their centralized DAM system. To share or distribute assets (or their renditions), AEMaaCS provides multiple ways such as asset link share, asset selector, brand portal, etc. But still, there are common use cases where assets (or renditions) just need to be exported to external cloud storage like Azure blob store, S3 bucket, SFTP, etc. (for other systems to further consume) or directly into 3rd party systems like Marketo, Adobe Campaign, PIM, etc. as long as they provide secured asset ingestion endpoints. Traditionally in AEM 6.x, this usually can be accomplished by “publishing” assets into downstream systems (within a workflow or something) via a custom replication agent. This won’t work in AEM
Adobe Experience Platform Query Service Video Demo by Rohan kapoor Abstract Video: https://youtu.be/xIsfIKP-n70 In this post, I want to share a demo I created working for the Adobe Experience Platform Query Service product team. The target audience are primarily pre-sales and account teams but anyone can use it get a general understanding of how Query Service connects with external tools. Below is what I worked on to create this demo: 1. Identified a common telecom sector customer churn use case 2. Ingested online/offline data into Adobe Experience Platform using AWS S3 3. Mapped the incoming data files to relevant schemas and datasets 4. Used SQL to combine those datasets into one common dataset using a CTAS query 5. Created a simple churn analysis dashboard using Tableau and connected it to Query Service using PostgreSQL. -> Here's a link to it. Please note that the dashboard will not populate (due to AEP access requirements) but you can look at the general structure and fields
Register/Map Custom AEM I/O Events by Kelvin Xu Abstract After setting up AEM I/O events following this, you will get the following AEM events mapped to I/O events OOTB and you can immediately hook them up with your I/O actions or webhooks. What if you want to map more AEM event types into I/O events such as asset_published or asset_metadata_updated? Here are the high-level steps. In general, what it takes is just to find the underlying OSGi event and map to a new I/O event code through a custom com.day.cq.dam.eventproxy.service.mapping.OsgiXdmEventMappingConfigurationImpl factory config. Let's take asset_published and asset_metadata_updated events as examples. Read Full Blog Register/Map Custom AEM I/O Events Q&A Please use this thread to ask the related questions.
Going Headless: Governing Content & Capabilities TECHNOLOGY by bounteous Abstract The need for purpose-built marketing capabilities has created a demand for modular backend services, resulting in a move away from monolithic Digital Experience Platform (DXP) solutions. Expectations for Digital Experience (DX) are now greater than ever, and we continue to see growing budgets dedicated to digital transformation. To set our clients up for success, we work with them to provide the most flexibility from the start. This includes orchestrating content from multiple sources as well as leveraging Machine Learning to unlock the value of customer data and drive one-to-one interactions across channels at scale. Adopting a decoupled architecture lets us combine capabilities from multiple vendors and capabilities developed internally. This gives us the ability to produce solutions tailored to our client's business that can be extended over time as capabilities become available. Single platform
Listening and Handling Copy/Paste Events in Adobe Experience Manager by Sreenivas B Abstract This article will help you to do any post processing activity on copy/paste of an asset/page — here, I explain one of the important use cases which I have experienced, for which I needed this. When we integrate AEM with any cloud solution (Adobe or third party) for synchronizing assets or pages, we use some kind of reference ID for linking the content between AEM and the cloud service. For example, in the case of exporting an Experience Fragment to Adobe Target, we use Offer ID for linking the AEM XF and the corresponding offer in Adobe Target for further synchronization or updates to the offer. We usually save this reference ID in the content or metadata node of the page/asset. Now, the problem is, what if I copy/paste the asset/page in AEM for reuse? The metadata or properties also get pasted in the newly created page/asset. Now we have two assets/pages with same reference ID, which is pr
