About this time last year, we announced the end of support for TLS 1.0 for libraries being hosted by Adobe. In the same vein, we want you to know that in the early part of April 2020, DTM and Launch will end support for TLS 1.1. TLS 1.2 will be the minimum allowed version. We will update this post with the exact date when it moves closer and we determine what it is.As before, this is a security requirement coordinated across many Experience Cloud solutions so that they can be in compliance with certain data security standards required for companies who do credit card processing.Effectively, this means that browsers that do not support TLS 1.2 and above will no longer be allowed to retrieve a hosted library over an HTTPS connection. If you are using HTTPS to load your DTM or Launch library, then those browsers will no longer be able to retrieve and execute that library.Browsers that support TLS 1.2 and above - and will continue to function as they do today - are:Chrome 30 and up (
**Nov. 11, 2019 update: In a continued effort to integrate with Adobe's release structure, we are shifting the deprecation of TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 to January 13, 2020.To align with Adobe’s world-class standard for security, we will be deprecating support for Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.0 and 1.1 starting December 13, 2019 January 13,2020. Systems integrating with Marketo that are not compliant with 1.2 protocol could potentially lose access to Marketo Engage services. To maintain your Marketo Engage access, please ensure that all client systems are TLS 1.2 compliant before January 13, 2020. For a list of TLS 1.2 compliant browsers and frameworks, see the tables at the bottom of this communication. What is Transport Layer Security (TLS)? Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a security protocol that provides privacy and data integrity between two communicating applications. It is deployed widely for web browsers and other applications that

Issue DescriptionYou want to prevent a situation where you create or sync a new field on the Lead and Contact objects in SFDC and two fields are created in Marketo, one mapped to Lead and the other mapped to Contact.Issue Resolution You will see this behavior if the an SFDC field is created on two objects across more than one sync cycle, one before a sync cycle starts and the other one during or after the sync cycle completes. To ensure both the lead and contact show up mapped to the same custom field Marketo, do the followingDisable the global sync in Marketo. (Admin > Salesforce)Create the field on your desired objects in SFDC. Make sure they both have the same API name.Re-enable the global sync in Marketo, allowing the field in both objects to sync down to Marketo at the same time.If you find yourself with multiple fields in Marketo after the sync, contact Marketo Support to have the fields merged or remapped as necessary.Who This Solution Applies To Customers integrated with Sa
Issue DescriptionYou have a smart campaign setup and the flowstep called “Change score” activity is not logged or missing in the activity log.Issue Resolution If the records who qualify for the flowstep already have the same value which you have specific in the flow step, the activity will not be logged. The activities will not be logged because there is no change being made by the campaign.
IssueThis describes the difference in how filter logic applies to triggers and filters in a Smart Campaign Smart List. SolutionIssue ResolutionYou can view the video on this here. Filter logic in a Smart List only applies to filters (the green criteria) and not triggers (the orange criteria.) If you have multiple triggers in a Smart Campaign, they will always operate on ANY/OR logic, which is to say, only one of the triggers needs to fire in order for the Smart Campaign to run. The filter logic you select, whether it is AND, ANY, or Advanced, will be used to further filter the leads after the trigger has fired.
Issue DescriptionWhen trying to import a list of people into Marketo via a list import, their names are being left blank despite being listed clearly in your CSV.Example CSV headers:NAME EmailJohn Smith JS@email.comSmith John SJ@email.comGreg Jones GJ@email.comIssue Resolution Full Name is a system managed field that is blocked from being updated by list imports. You will want to split the one column of Name, into two columns of First Name and Last Name. This document from excel shows how to split the one Name cell into two different cells. https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Split-a-cell-f1804d0c-e180-4ed0-a2ae-973a0b7c6a23
Issue DescriptionUpon reviewing the activity log of a record you've noticed their activity log seems to be missing data.Usually the activity type is a "Change Data Value" and the details show "Missing history details". If you double click on the activity nothing happens, there is no Activity Details popup window.Issue Resolution This message appears in the activity log when the characters in a field exceed the maximum number of characters allowed in that field. Basically you've hit the character limit for the field. The character limit is 60,500 character. The resolution is to reduce the number of characters in the field. Also evaluate if you need all the information in that field and optimize so that the character limit is not met.
Issue DescriptionWhy does some emails do not appear as an 'Email Filter' option in an Email/Email Link Performance Report?docs.marketo.com/display/public/DOCS/Filter+Assets+in+an+Email+Report Issue Resolution The reason why some emails do not appear as an 'Email Filter' option in an Email/Email Link Performance report is because the emails were used in an A/B test. Similar to the product behaviour illustrated below, when adding an A/B test, the selected email will not be directly selectable or appear as an Email Filter option in an Email/Email Link Performance report. "When adding an A/B test, the selected email will no longer be available for use in any other program." docs.marketo.com/pages/releaseview.action?pageId=2359491 In order to report on the A/B test emails that do not appear in the Email Filter option, the parent program can be selected. Is this article helpful ?YesNo
Issue Description Currency type fields are changing unexpectedly. It may appear that they are being rounded off at first glance, but a better description is that they are being approximated imprecisely. This is a feature of all floating point values. For example: if you enter the value as 8092384905, Marketo will truncate it to 8092390000. Issue Resolution This is an expected behavior. Currency type fields are stored as single precision float values which have 6-7 digits of significance. Since standard fields type cannot be changed, we suggest that you create a new custom field to hold the currency value.Human-readable Values: StringsOften the easiest work-around for larger currency values is to use a field of type "String". String fields are adequate for storing a value, but do not offer the capability to compare (between, greater than, less than, at least, at most) values. Comparable Values: IntegersTo preserve comparison capability, store the value as an integer which can take on val
Issue DescriptionYou need to revert a data value change for a field on multiple leads.Issue ResolutionThere is no way through the UI to "undo" a data value change (unless it was a boolean field, in which case there are only two possible values.) You can certainly use a Smart List to identify whose values have changed, but there no way to go back to the old value (unless it's stored elsewhere in another field or through another data store, along with the API).However, you can use the API to extract the data value change activity from the activity log, which would include the old and new values, extract the original values, then use the API to rewrite the old values back to the lead record. http://developers.marketo.com/rest-api/endpoint-reference/lead-database-endpoint-reference/#!/Activities/getLeadChangesU… Is this article helpful ?YesNo
Update May 2021: Due to the release of CNAME Cloaking Defense with IOS and Safari 14 Munchkin cookies will be capped to a 7 day lifespan in Safari . What’s changing? On February 21, 2019, Webkit announced the new release of Safari’s Intelligent Tracking Prevention (ITP), known as ITP 2.1 and ITP 2.2 shortly thereafter. With ITP 2.x, all persistent client-side cookies, i.e., non-session cookies created via JavaScript through document.cookie, are capped to a seven-day or one-day expiry. Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome have also announced their intent to conform to these new policies, though no details or dates have been released. How does this impact Marketo? As a result of these changes to cookie policy, 7 days after their initial tracked visit to your domain, the Munchkin cookies of visitors using Safari (or future affected browser versions) created with the existing versions of Munchkin JavaScript will expire, and on subsequent visits they will be tracked as
IssueYou receive a notification that the Salesforce sync failed with the error "SalesForce Sync Error: UNABLE_TO_LOCK_ROW" SolutionThis indicates that something else in Salesforce was writing to the record at the moment the Marketo Salesforce sync tried to make the update. Since only one "user" at a time can update a record, Marketo was unable to do so, and the sync failed. Marketo will retry an operation a few times if this keeps being received but will fail and move on if it happens too many times. If these have recently become common, you might want to look into any new API integrations to SFDC that you've deployed or any new AppExchange packages with your SFDC Admin to see if you might be able to tune it to avoid this collision. Issue DescriptionDoes the email address assigned to the API user need to be an email address maintained by an actual person?docs.marketo.com/display/public/DOCS/Create+an+API+Only+UserIssue Resolution The email address assigned to an API user does not need to be an existing email address or an actual person. It is used as an identifier for the API user. Generally, customers name the API user according to the integration the API user is being used for (e.g. integrationuser@company.com). This is useful for tracking where API calls are coming from when there are multiple integrations configured with Marketo via the API
Sharing a tip that I hope will make your life better. When using %this....% with a custom attribute, don’t use quote marks. I.e. use %this.getAttribute(custom-attribute)% without quote marks, not %this.getAttribute("custom-attribute")%.(BTW this goes against my JavaScript sensibilities.)How I discovered this:For a link click, I want to set an eVar to the value of the link’s data-foo attribute. (My link definitely has a data-foo attribute with a valid string value.)Round 1:In the rule’s AA - Set Variables action, in the form, I set my eVar’s value to %this.getAttribute("data-foo")%. In the custom code, for sanity sake, I set another eVar to _satellite.getVar("data-foo"), with the appropriate linkTrackVars.--> Result: my original eVar is set with the string "null", my custom code eVar gets data-foo’s string value.Round 2:In the AA - Set Variables form, I use %this.data-foo%.--> Result: my original eVar is not set at all, my custom code eVar gets data-foo’s string value.Round 3:In th

With the evolving best practices and awareness around data privacy, Marketo will be upgrading how we handle form pre-fill.What change is being made?Starting April 24, 2019, Marketo will only pre-fill form fields if the URL used to navigate to the Marketo landing page contains a valid mkt_tok URL parameter value (which occurs when users click tracked links in Marketo emails). What that means is, any time a person is viewing a Marketo landing page with a form, the URL being used must contain the mkt_tok token in the query string, otherwise the form on that landing page will not be pre-filled. If the URL in the browser window does have a valid mkt_tok tracking token, then the form within the page will pre-fill as expected with data corresponding to the person record associated with that mkt_tok.Also note that if you are embedding Marketo Landing Pages within other web pages using an <iframe>, the mkt_tok would need to be passed from the parent page to the <iframe> URL if you i
The Launch API was first made available to customers about two years ago in the earliest alpha state. At the time, true role-based permissions were not available through Adobe IO, and so in order to limit IO integrations (technical accounts) to certain permissions, we created roles that mapped to sets of permissions. One of these roles was selected when you created your technical accounts.Fast forward a few years and Adobe IO is now integrated with the Admin Console. This means that API users can be managed in the same way that flesh and blood users are managed - that is, API integrations can now be assigned to the same product profiles that regular users use.As of September 4, 2019 (see release notes), Integrations of both types are supported in Launch and the older role-based permissions are deprecated. In February of 2020, the older role-based Integrations will be removed entirely. Before that happens, someone from your Org will need to login to the IO Console and switch over t
IssueIssue DescriptionWhen filling out a form in preview, an external Thank You Page is not working. Marketo is not redirecting to the Thank You Page. SolutionIssue Resolution This is expected. A workaround is to create a test Marketo Landing Page and place the form for testing.
Issue DescriptionIf the text is removed from the "Unsubscribe" text at the Admin level, will this immediately apply to every email in Marketing Activities or, will Marketo ask you to re-approve each email once this "Unsubscribe" text has officially been removed?Issue Resolution Title - Remove Unsubscribe Text From the"Admin - https://nation.marketo.com/docs/DOC-1114If you remove the text at the Admin level (as per the documentation), this will immediately apply to all emails created (including: active, inactive). You are not required to re-approve your previously approved emails once this change has been saved in the Admin -> Email settings. All pre-existing emails will replace the default "Unsubscribe" text at the bottom of all emails, after changes have been saved in Admin -> Email settings. After removing the default "Unsubscribe" text from emails, you should replace it with a Custom Unsubscribe option. This is in order to remain compliant with the Can-Spam Act.
Issue DescriptionThe Get Lead Activities REST API is not returning any activities even though the lead referenced definitely has multiple activities of the type being called. This article covers advanced concepts when designing your campaign flows. You need to be familiar with Smart Campaigns before reading this article:Building smart campaignsAuto-responder PriorityIf you have a campaign that sends an email following a form fillout, you should make sure that theSend Email flow step comes first. You can put other flow steps after that.People who complete a form expect a quick email response. If you put the Send Email first, Marketo will assume this is an auto-responder campaign and thus needs to be prioritized higher. If you put the Send Email step later in the flow, your campaign may be prioritized lower causing the email response to be delayed.Add ChoiceThe Add Choice option in a flow step lets you execute flow steps based on a specific condition.Say you're building a scoring campaign based on the lead's job title -- 10 points for a CEO, 8 for a VP, 6 for Director, and so on. Instead of building a separate campaign for each title, y
