Adobe Experience Manager Assets

Dear All:I have created a customized metadata schema form according to the document Metadata Schemas - docs.adobe.comAnd then I found the newly created form is stored in the folder /apps/dam/content/schemaeditors/forms along with the default form.Is it possible to move this customized form to somewhere under a specific project folder, like /apps/myproject/...?My AEM version is 6.1.Thank you!

If I load a PSD into Adobe Assets and attempt to manipulate the displayed layers, Adobe Assets fails to render the PSD entirely. Anybody have any solutions how this can be fixed?Thanks in advance for your help!

Can I create an metadata-only asset?  Basically an asset record with metadata, but no asset object exists yet. Then later we update that record/asset with the actual file.  The use case is I'd like to create asset records before that actual finished good asset is ready.  That way I have an AssetID of the asset before there is an asset. Another question, seems to be so obvious that I'm missing this, I hope its a simple issue. When creating a spin set, no matter what I do, no matter how I add the assets, or number the files, I always have to re-order them in the spin set wizard. Is there a way to have AEM recognize and use the numerical order of the files? I've tried to interpret how AEM is jumbling the images, but it seems very random. I have some spin sets that are 50+ images, and dragging those all back into order is a huge time suck! How can i get the spinset wizard to just list the file numerically? Thanks!Matt

Hi,I wondered if somebody can please help me or point me in the right direction.  Sorry, I have searched the forum, but maybe not using the correct term.  We are using the AEM DAM, and I would just like a report on how much space we are using and if possible how much space we have.I can get the report of assets to download, and I have looked at other topics, such as the Assets Sizing Guide, but I'm not really after a tool to estimate etc, I am just after a report on how much space we are using and how much space we have.Thank you for your help and sorry if this information is somewhere very obvious.

Has anyone been having issues with Excel documents in the DAM opening in IE 11? If you link to Excel DAM assets they won’t open if you select the “Open” option in IE. If you choose “Save” and then open the file it’s fine. If we move the Excel file into Eloqua’s document manager, it’s fine. PDF documents are also fine. Firefox and Chrome are also fine. It doesn’t matter if the link is in an email, on a published webpage, or if someone just pastes the URL directly into the browser.What our users are experiencing -- When you click the link for an Excel DAM asset in IE, you first get the dialog box to Open/Save/Save As. When you choose "Open", you get a blank browser window, a message displays that the file is being downloaded, and then when the message goes away you're still looking at a blank page. The file never opens.

I am following the solution recommended by Experience AEM (Experiencing Adobe Experience Manager - Day CQ: AEM 6 SP1 - Classic UI Restrict Large or Small Files Upload ) to limit file upload size to the DAM in Classic UI. It works as described when authors use the new button to upload asset, however after deploying this code disables the drag-and-drop functionality in the DAM. I tested in new AEM install to make sure issue wasn't related to my code base. Does anyone know why and have any recommended solutions? Thank you.

We have 1000+ fragments in our application, we want to provide a mechanism to users to search a text within Fragments. The data in fragments is stored as binary, any idea how to perform a text search in fragments?

This is what drove this question.  The use case is that I have two folders that are sub-folders to a top folder.  The top folder has a specific schema that was created and applied via touch UI so the two sub-folders inherit that schema.Each sub-folder has a metadata profile applied to them that is unique to each sub-folder.If I select multiple assets in ONE folder and select properties to bulk edit, all is well and the edit utilizes the applied schema.If I select multiple assets from both sub-folders (via a search result or a collection that contains files from both folders) and then select Properties to do a bulk edit, i get that very simple schema.  I think its the default classic ui schema.  Can I make the classic UI schema the same as my Touch UI schema, or can I get the bulk edit to always use the schema applied via Touch UI?Thanks,jim P

I wondered what the correct procedure is for deactivating an asset when the copyright expires?  I will tell content authors to use the expires option in the Advanced part of the Asset properties.  However I wonder what will happen to the asset on the publish instance?   If the reference page is live, will the asset dissapear after it has deactivated itself?

AEM 6.3.  Mail is configured and i do get notifications now from asset workflows.  All references to links have base URL as localhost:4502 in the notifications.  Such as:Content: http://localhost:4502/content/dam/aem-docs/VID_digital-hub-DAM-overview_EN.mp4/jcr:content/renditions/original  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- View the overview in your http://localhost:4502/aem/inboxAnd when an asset is selected and one want to utilize the "Share  Link" function from the Nav bar, it also is using localhost as default base URL.  How can these be share to reflect the appropriate DNS addresses?

When i upload assets in CARD VIEW it seems that my new assets go to the bottom.  Is there a keyboard shortcut to get me straight to these assets in order to TAG them?

We like to sync dev with production before we start an upgrade or project work on the instance in dev.  We do not want to copy the datastore as it is large.  How can we do it.

Hi all,Our client has a specific requirement to secure some of the Assets till they can be made available for public. Currently we have a way already implemented through which contents are made secure. I will refrain to discuss that in details here, because that is not my query about.One of the suggestion which came up is, to put assets under that secured site content folder which automatically help securing them by leveraging the security in place for site content, which will just be extended for those assets too. Again, I do not need to explain how here as that is not my query about.I informed to stakeholders that it is not a good idea to put assets under site content folder. But they would like to know what are the issues one can face if assets are put under Site content structure than within DAM.I have raised few like1. Not able to use DAM Admin capabilities. Hi All,Release notes of our project are maintained in DAM.Release notes is a static content which has all html, js,css and images.On the root html page of the release notes is set to a vanity url.After every restart, this vanity is not picked up properly and it does not redirect to the home page of release notes and redirecting to 404 page.When we rename the vanity url and save back to original vanity url it's again redirecting to the home page of root page.Is anyone having idea how to fix this issue.Thanks,Kishore

Hi All,Can anyone point me to documentation on how the out-of-the-box asset expiration/deactivation works in AEM 6.1?  I'd like to understand a few things:What triggers the deactivation; an event, a workflow, something else?  I ask in part because I've found some of our assets with expiration dates in the past have not been deactivated.Is it configurable?  For instance, can we set it to auto-deactivate only in certain directories?Where / how are the Inbox notifications configured?Thanks!

When in classic UI and asset properties open for a particular asset, there is a "version" tab on the far right where I can easily enter version info that may be specific to us.  For example, a vendor makes an update to the asset and Product Marketing has deemed this new version, ver3A.  I can manually enter that data into the version tab.  While AEM may relate to that version as version 1.1, the label in the version data for that asset says ver3A so it is easily identifiable.   We really try to discourage putting the version number in the filename as any web published link to that asset then needs to be updated anytime the asset is rev'd.    Is the only way to manage version data or revert to an older one, done only with Classic UI?  We could also create/use a metadata field to track our internal version, but the question still remains if version management can only be done in Classic.Thanks,Jim P
