I have found several good examples on how to modify the color of a field based on a value but am not having luck implementing.  My form is an evaluation with 3 sections of test scores, the total of all 3 could have a max value of 100.  Sections 1 & 2 are auto calculated, and section 3 is a value the user will input based on their review of all comments, scores, etc.  The final score has a rating, Outstanding 90-100, Satisfactory 70 - 89, and Unsatisfactory <=70.   Right now I'm not so much concerned about the color numbers, but I'm not able to get the colors to change at all.  Because this field is calculated based on sections 1-3, I put the code on its change event.  Once the user enters the final manual score in section 3, the value automatically changes.  I've also tried the exit event of the section 3 manual score, and obviously do not have either the code or where to place it right.  Below is the code I'm using, and would appreciate any help.  If I can learn how to do the 9

Hi,I am searching for the best way to create global variables so that the script can work on all adobe reader versions . I tried gobal.varibaleName at the initialize event of the form, but it is only working in the earlier versions of designer. I tried using script variables, but it always initializes the variable to string value. I have wrote some functions on the script object, and every time any functions fails, a  global variable count gets incremented. At the potsave event of the form if the count value is greater then 0 , a simple warning message is displayed . Now how to declare and initialize and increment this count variable so that the script can work on all the versions of adobe reader ?

I'm trying to use a button to add a subform. I know I need to have the repeating subform Flowed (which I've done) and I know I need to set the Repeat subform for each data item to Min 1. However, the Repeat subform for each data item is grayed out so I can't select it.What am I doing wrong?Thanks,MDawn

In one portion of a form I'm designing, the user is supposed to enter several numbers in a table, and at the bottom two numbers are automatically calculated for them.I explain in the instructions for the form that some fields are automatically calculated, but I actually do not have room in the actual form to add a note next to every calculated field reminding people of that.  I've added code so that if a user tries to click on the automatically calculated field, a messagebox comes up explaining that the field is automatically calculated.  However, I do not want such a box to come up if someone is just tabbing through the objects on that page.  That would be annoying.What I want is to be able to exclude those two numeric entry fields from the tab order alltogether.  Adobe should just skip those fields when a user tabs through.  I can't figure out how to do that though.  Is there a way?  Other suggestions?Thanks

I know that in order for a subform to have dynamic elements it in, it needs to be flowed, and the form itself needs to be flowed. So, is there a way to put two flowing subforms side by side? I want to have two columns in my form, but I want each column to be flowed and dynamic.

This must be a ridiculously stupid question, because I've tried googling every possible variation of this question and come up with squat.I took a form in excel, converted it to pdf, imported it into LiveCycle, and am trying to add fields where the wizard did not. When I create text fields, it almost always puts in a caption, despite the fact that I don't want one. I can't resize to remove it, and I don't want it, but I don't know how to get rid of it.On a colleague's computer, I was able to create text fields without captions - the caption field in the field properties is just grayed out. In fact, when I pull up a form created on that computer, all text fields I create have no captions. When I create a new document on my own computer, they all have captions again.On an unrelated note, why is it that forms I create in this manner do not have the preview PDF option? It's just grayed out.

In Adobe LiveCycle 8.0, is there a way for me to change the background color of my form?

I’d like to add a watermark to a form I’ve created that will look like a light grey bold text that runs diagonally along the entire pate (not unusual for a digital watermark). My problem is that it seems like Acrobat has this as a built in feature but LiveCycle doesn’t. Initially, I’d prefer vector graphics for a number of reasons. First, I have found that having an image in the background of a form will begin to annoy the user if they’re cursor is in the “selection” mode and not the Hand Tool. Clicking on a blank part of the form will highlight the entire page if the watermark is actually an image behind the form…So here’s what I’ve attempted first: I created the desired watermark text, color, and shape in Word using “word art” to create the graphic. I then saved the blank page with the single graphic to a PDF file. Sadly, this won’t allow me to transfer all of the form geometry and text to this new PDF document as I created the form starting with a blank page and not an existing PDF…

have a form with a table on the first page.  If it has more than 7 line items, then it continues to a new master page content area to display the rest of the line items.  Then it has another separate page to print at the end.However, if I have 7 or fewer lines, it still prints my continuation page.  Is there a way to prevent this page from displaying and from being included in the page count?As another option, is there a way I can subtract 1 from the page count if the number of line items is 7 or less?I've attached a copy of my hieararchy.  I want Page1 to display.  In it is a table.  If it has more than 7 line items, I have it continue to a content area in LIContPage1.  Page 2 prints last.However, if there are fewer than 7 line items on Page1, I don't want LIContPage1 to print or be included in the page numbering.Thanks!

Does anyone know of a way to get the border between the caption of a text field and the value section to be visible to a form user?  It's a bit confusing when someone enters a field and there's no line of demarcation between the caption, which they can't edit, and the value, which they need to edit.

I have a dynamic form which should only print certain portions depending on checkboxes (if checkbox is checked, print paragraph; otherwise, don't print). I am using javascript to change the paragraph form visible to hidden prior to printing. I would like to also eliminate the blank space when I make the paragraph hidden. In other words, I want to collapse the pdf document based on the user inputted check boxes. Anybody have a simple solution? I am using LiveCycle Designer 7.1.

Are there any known problems with showing / hiding a table column at run time? I have a dynamic table that contains a column with a checkbox, and another column with a radio button.  If the user is allowed to select more than one table row (as indicated by a form variable), then I want to show the check box column and hide the radio column.  Otherwise I want to show / hide the opposite.I am showing / hiding the column's header too.  When I preview the form, however, the data in the table seems to "scoot" left and get placed into the column that is hidden, so to speak. I'm using the following in a validation eventvar MBn = (iSizeN / 1383.27)/ 1024;The result is a digit with around 10 decimal places.1) What do I need to do so that the result is only 2 decimal places?2) How do I then convert the 2-decimal place number to a text string so that I can use it in a message? Note that I still need access to the MBn variable so the string variable would be MBs.Thank you for the help.
